Welcome to 8th Grade History
at Gavilan Peak!
This will be my sixth year at Gavilan Peak. I am teaching 7th Grade Advance Language Arts and 8th Grade Social Studies as well as Language and Culture (exploratory). In history, we will begin the year by learning about the 13 Colonies and why the Americans wanted to become independent from England; we will cover the Revolutionary War and the formation of the new government. We will review the Great War, the Depression era, and the lead-up to World War II, which was covered last year in 7th Grade. Finally, we will learn about the events in the decades after World War II.
